Summary

This clinical workshop is a critical continuing education opportunity  that will enable all (non-medical) licensed clinicians to keep abreast of contemporary psychodiagnostics. The DSM-5 brought substantive advancements in the interprofessional process and documentation. Now, the DSM-5-TR is a further continuation in the art and science of diagnosing. It is additionally grounded in social determinants of health, and includes progressive changes in language and phrasing. It advances the centering of dynamic cultural considerations in case formulation. It includes transformations in diagnostic criteria and coding and adds three critical diagnoses. History, politics, and the gestalt of the age will be discussed, and the DSM-5-TR will be cross-walked. Essential updates to new diagnoses will be reviewed, along with the multitude of criterion changes and  the dozens (upon dozens) of coding changes to align with the  ICD-11. Several interdisciplinary cases will be reviewed to illuminate these changes to the DSM diagnostic system.
